Sequoyah Remembrance Day
Sequoyah Birthplace Museum in Vonore, TN will be celebrating Sequoyah Remembrance Day and Sequoyah’s contribution to the Cherokee people by creating a writing system, the Cherokee Syllabary with free admission to the museum from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

About the event
Sequoyah Birthplace Museum in Vonore, TN will be celebrating Sequoyah Remembrance Day and Sequoyah’s contribution to the Cherokee people by creating a writing system, the Cherokee Syllabary with free admission to the museum from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. The 1809 Cherokee Blacksmith shop will be up and running with demonstrations all through the afternoon. Local demonstrators will also be set up demonstrating pine needle baskets and Gary Holt will be talking about the Cherokees in the Civil War in our 1800’s dog-trot log cabin.
